How Do I Create a Backorder in Xvantage™

Prev Next

Overview:

This article explains how to monitor backordered items and receive backorder notifications in Xvantage. Backorders occur when a product is temporarily out of stock but is expected to be replenished within a specified timeframe. Once inventory becomes available, Xvantage™ can notify you and provide a limited window to release the order.

Before You Begin:

  • Confirm with your Ingram Micro brand specialist that the product is expected to be restocked.

  • Place an order for the item in Xvantage.

  • Ensure your notification preferences are enabled to receive backorder updates.

Process:

  1. Log in to Xvantage.

  2. Place an order that includes the backordered item.

  3. Select your profile icon or company initials in the upper-right corner.

  4. Navigate to My Account > Account Settings.

  5. Open the Notification Settings tab.

  6. Enable the available backorder notification options, including:

    • Daily backorder summary

    • Weekly backorder summary

What happens next?

  • You will receive email notifications with updates on your backorder status.

  • When inventory is allocated, the reserved inventory remains available for 48 business hours.

  • If the order is not released within that timeframe, the inventory allocation expires and the order may be automatically closed.

Important Information

Backordered and made-to-order items may be subject to price changes before inventory becomes available. Changes may occur due to taxes, shipping costs, vendor pricing updates, or other applicable charges.

For orders containing both in-stock and backordered items:

  • Payment is typically collected only for items currently available in inventory.

  • Backordered items are charged when inventory becomes available and the order is released.
