Objective
This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to cancel an Azure Subscription on the Ingram Micro Xvantage Platform along with steps to ensure cancellation of the resources.
Note:
Before you cancel the sub, all RIs should be cancelled as well: Azure Reserved Instance Cancellation
Turning off Auto-Renew in Xvantage for an Azure NCE Subscription does not cancel the subscription or cancel any of the resources or reservations in the Azure portal. You must follow the noted steps below to ensure the spend is shut down correctly.
Please follow the Microsoft recommended steps below prior to canceling an Azure subscription in Xvantage.
Microsoft Recommendations
Microsoft recommends taking the following steps for any cancellation (Direct, CSP to CSP transfer, closing environment) of an Azure Subscription.
Make sure the customer's data has been backed up. For example, download a copy if they are storing data in Azure storage or SQL. If they have a virtual machine, save an image of it locally.
Shut down the customer's services. Go to the All Resources page and stop any running virtual machines, applications, or other services. Remove Reserved Instances.
If the Azure subscription migrates from CSP to Direct, all resources must be transferred to the new Azure subscription.
Verify if all resources and all resource groups have been removed from the old Azure subscription.
To verify if the cancellation was completed accurately, log into Partner Center and verify that the Azure Subscription shows "Inactive" under the end customer.
Process
Once logged into your Ingram Micro Xvantage Account, click on My Business, then select Subscriptions.

This page provides a brief overview of the Subscription. To cancel, click the "ellipses" in the top right-hand corner and then click Cancel Subscription.

You will be directed to a cancellation page. Once there, please provide your reason for canceling, although it's not mandatory, and click Confirm to complete the process.

Important Reminders
Please ensure that your customer does not remove Ingram Micro's access to the Azure subscription or terminate our GDAP/ DAP relationship, as this will result in the subscription remaining active and accumulating charges. If the customer wishes to remove Ingram Micro's relationship, please ensure that they have removed all resources that accumulate a charge.
Cancelled Azure subscriptions will show as processing for 90 days. However, the subscription will stop accumulating charges once the cancellation order is submitted.
When a cancellation order is submitted in Xvantage, it is expected to stop services for the end customer’s Azure subscription. However, due to Microsoft policies cancelled Azure subscriptions will show as processing for 90 days and may not always result in a full suspension of the subscription.
Partner Responsibilities
Partners must work directly with the end customer to verify that all reserved instances and active resources have been deactivated.
Failure to deactivate resources may result in continued spend and billing, even after a cancellation order has been placed.
Auto-Renew vs. Cancellation
Disabling auto-renew does not cancel an Azure subscription.
Subscriptions with auto-renew turned off will still continue billing until all usage has been fully stopped and a cancellation has been processed.
Key Takeaway
To avoid unexpected charges, partners should ensure both:
A formal cancellation order is submitted in Xvantage.
All resources and reserved instances are deactivated in cooperation with the end customer.
