How to Install MCP in Xvantage™

Prev Next

Overview:

MCP self-service lets you create and manage your own MCP (Model Context Protocol) connection directly in the Integrations Hub - no support ticket required. Once installed, your MCP URL connects your AI agent or LLM (such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot) to real-time Xvantage data, so your team can ask business questions in plain language: order status, quote information, pricing, and more.

Before you begin:

● Access to Xvantage with the Integrations Hub available on your account.

● An Ingram Micro Production Developer Portal account.

● An AI tool that supports MCP connections (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar).

● Ensure the user who is logged in on Xvantage to install MCP, is the same user as the Developer Portal- email addresses must match

Note — Production Developer Portal account required

If you do not have a Production Developer Portal account, the app will inform you during setup. Select the View guidance link in the requirements dialog for steps to create one, then return to the Integrations Hub to continue the installation.

Process:

  1. Log in to Xvantage.

  2. Find the MCP Server app - In Xvantage, open the Integrations Hub and browse the App Store catalog. Locate the MCP Server app — you can filter by the AI & Automation category or search for "MCP".

  1. Confirm the requirements - Select the app and choose to enable it. The Enable MCP Server dialog asks you to confirm that you have an Ingram Developer account before proceeding. Check the confirmation box and continue.

    Don’t have a developer account?

This is where the app informs you. Select View guidance in this dialog for step-by-step instructions to create your Production Developer Portal account. You will not be able to proceed until the account exists.

  1. Set up your MCP connection:

Complete the Set up your MCP connection form with your account details:

    ● Customer Number — your Ingram Micro customer number

    ● Country — the country for your account

    ● Email — your contact email

    ● Developer portal app name — select your app from the dropdown

Then select Finish configuration to generate your MCP URL.

    5. Copy and store your MCP URL - Once setup completes, your MCP URL is displayed one time only. Select Copy and store the URL securely — it is the credential that connects your AI agent or LLM to Ingram Micro MCP and will not be shown again.

Important — this URL is shown only once

Treat your MCP URL like a password. If you lose it or need a new one, you can regenerate the token from

the Manage Apps section of MCP at any time — regenerating invalidates the previous URL.

  1. Connect your AI tool - The Setup panel now shows MCP is configured and ready to use. Follow the MCP setup guidance on screen: paste your MCP URL into your AI tool (such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot) and ask a business question to get started. You can return to this screen anytime for prompt examples and prebuilt use cases.

    7. Manage your tools - From the MCP Server configuration screen you control which tools are available to your AI agent. Enable or disable tools as needed — a confirmation appears when a tool is enabled, and the change is immediately available to your connected agent.

Note: Upon installation, all tools are turned OFF by default. You will need to manually enable all tools, or only the specific tools you would like the agent to access

Regenerating your MCP URL:

If you lose your MCP URL or need to replace it, you can generate a new one at any time — no need to reinstall. Open Manage apps in the Integrations Hub, select the MCP Server app, and find the Integration Info panel on the configuration screen. Select Regenerate next to the MCP URL.

A new one-time URL is displayed — the same rules apply: copy it now and store it securely, as it will not be shown again. Update the connection in your AI tool with the new URL.

Regenerating invalidates the old URL

The moment you regenerate, the previous MCP URL stops working. Any AI agent still using the old URL will lose access until it is updated with the new one.

Uninstalling MCP

If you need to remove MCP, uninstall the app from the Integrations Hub. A confirmation toast verifies the app has been removed and its MCP URL is no longer active. You can reinstall anytime from the App Store — a new MCP URL is generated during reinstallation.
