Overview:
This guide shows how to change the edition from Windows 11 Home (including Home Single Language) to Windows 11 Pro using the generic upgrade key while the PC is offline, and then activate with your purchased Pro key. The process is in-place—your files and apps are preserved.
Important:
Before proceeding with the steps below, it is highly recommended to perform a full data backup to avoid any data loss in case of errors during the process. This guide is for reference purposes only, as our Premier Support does not cover operating system-related issues.
Process:
NB: Stay offline from Step 1 to Step 5. Go online only after the edition change is complete (Step 6).
Disconnect from the internet: Turn on Airplane mode or disconnect Wi‑Fi/Ethernet. Keep the PC offline until Step 6.
Open the Activation area: Go to Settings → System → About and click Product key and activation or go directly to Settings → System → Activation.

Note: If one of the following errors occurs, please try out the solutions listed below:
“We can’t reach our activation servers / 0x800704CF”: Ensure connectivity, wait a moment, try again, and use the Troubleshoot button if needed.
“This key didn’t work” (when using the generic key): Verify the key and that “Professional” appears under Target Edition via DISM.
Still shows “Not active” after entering your key: confirm the key SKU (Pro vs Pro N/Workstation), date/time, and connectivity; try Activation → Troubleshoot; for corporate devices check if activation is via KMS/Volume MAK.
Once the process has been successfully completed, your Windows 11 Activation state should have changed to Active.
