Summary
This article provides information how to use your Reseller Domain, your customer’s Microsoft Domain, and your Microsoft Partner ID correctly to place Microsoft cloud orders without delays.
1. The Two Domains You Need for Every Microsoft Order
When you buy Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) or New Commerce Experience (NCE) licenses in Xvantage, you must provide two different domain names. Entering them correctly ensures your order processes automatically.
Your Indirect Reseller Domain (Your Company) | The Microsoft Domain Name (Your Customer) | |
|---|---|---|
What it is: | The primary domain name linked to your official Microsoft Partner Center account. | Your customer's cloud tenant identity (usually ends in .onmicrosoft.com). |
Why it matters: | It tells Microsoft who you are. This ensures your company gets proper credit, tracks your competency rewards, and links the sale to your business. | This is the actual cloud container where the software licenses will live. It determines exactly which end-user organization receives the licenses. |
2. Step-by-Step: How to Enter Domains During Checkout
Follow these steps when purchasing Microsoft seats (such as Microsoft 365 or Azure) for a client:
Add Products to Your Cart
Search the Xvantage marketplace for your desired Microsoft product.
Select your billing terms (e.g., Monthly or Annual) and click Add to Cart.
Proceed to the checkout screen.
Choose Your Customer
Select an existing customer from your list or click Add New Customer to create a profile for a new client.
Enter Your Reseller Information
Look for the Reseller Parameters section.
Enter your Indirect Reseller Domain.
Enter your Partner Location Account ID (formerly MPN ID).
Enter the Customer's Microsoft Domain
In the Setup Purchase step, configure the client's tenant space:
If they are brand new to Microsoft 365: Type in their preferred name to create a new domain (e.g., ://onmicrosoft.com). Xvantage will check if the name is available.
If they already use Microsoft 365: Enter their existing .onmicrosoft.com domain name exactly as it appears in their current Microsoft admin center.
Complete the Order
Review and accept the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) on behalf of your customer.
Submit the order. The licenses will provision in a few minutes.
3. Troubleshooting: Microsoft Partner ID (MPN) Validation Issues
If Xvantage rejects your order due to an "Invalid Partner ID" or a pending validation error, it is typically caused by a mismatch in the Microsoft account structure. Use these steps to resolve it:
Issue 1: Using the Global ID Instead of the Location ID
Microsoft provides two types of IDs: a Partner Global Account (PGA) ID and a Partner Location Account (PLA) ID.
The Rule: Xvantage transactions require your PLA ID (Location ID). The platform will reject the order if you enter your PGA ID.
Resolution:
Log into your Microsoft Partner Center Dashboard (http://microsoft.com).
Click the Settings (Gear icon) > Account Settings > Identifiers.
Look at the Microsoft Cloud Partner Program tab.
Find the row marked Partner Location (type) and copy that specific number string. Do not use the "Partner Global" row.
Paste this Location ID into the Xvantage checkout field.
Issue 2: "Pending Account Vetting" or Account Attestation Rejection
If your Location ID is typed correctly but still fails, your Microsoft partner status may be temporarily suspended or pending mandatory annual review.
Resolution:
Inside the Partner Center, go to Account Settings > Legal Info.
Check your Verification Status under both the Legal Business Profile and Partner Info tabs.
If it says Pending, Rejected, or requires Re-attestation, upload the requested business documents (like a utility bill or tax registration) directly to Microsoft.
Check if there are any outstanding Microsoft Partner Agreements that your admin needs to accept before you can transact.
4. Troubleshooting: How to Fix the "No Established Relationship" Error
If your order stops and says "The domain provided has no established relationship with the partner," it means the customer's existing Microsoft account has not authorized Ingram Micro to supply their licenses yet.
Resolution:
Log into your company's Microsoft Partner Center portal.
Go to your customer overview page and copy your Indirect Provider Relationship Request Link.
Email this link to your customer's IT administrator.
Ask the customer's admin to click the link, log in with their global admin account, and check the box to accept the relationship.
Once they accept, return to Xvantage and resubmit your order. It will now process successfully.
