Question #1: What capabilities does Customer Master provide for customer and vendor partner identification?

Answer: Customer Master provides Ingram Micro with a single, governed engine that supports two connected capabilities: automated BCN Resolution and Vendor Partner ID Linkage, and Strategic Vendor Contact Resolution for Renewals and Auto Quote. Built as a reusable foundation for Strategic Vendors, the solution is now live in production with Lenovo as the first implementation.

Question #2: What new capabilities are available for BCN Resolution and Vendor Partner ID Linkage in Customer Master?

Answer:

Customer Master now provides an automated and standardized process for resolving reseller customers (BCNs) and linking Vendor Partner IDs. Key capabilities include:

  • Automated Customer Matching – Uses a hierarchical matching model, starting with BCN, followed by exact Tax ID, Tax ID + Reseller Name, and address-based fuzzy matching, with fallback logic when data is limited.

  • Vendor–Reseller Relationship Management – Automatically creates or updates Vendor–Reseller relationships and associated contact records in Customer Master.

  • Standardized Intake Paths – Supports vendor-submitted customer files or, when unavailable, the standard Customer Master mapping template submitted by business associates. Both paths are routed through a single mailbox and standardized via VCAF.

  • Exception Handling – Routes unresolved records to an Exception Queue while preserving full audit details. A phased remediation workflow supports file-based resolution in Phase 1 and X4A UI-based bulk resolution in Phase 2.

  • Visibility in X4A – VBM and Sales teams can view resolved Reseller and Vendor Partner ID information directly in the Customer Master Vendor tab in X4A.

Question #3: What new capabilities are available for Strategic Vendor Contact Resolution?

Answer: Customer Master now provides a centralized and governed solution for resolving Strategic Vendor contacts for Renewals and Auto Quote.

Key capabilities include:

  • Centralized Vendor-Specific Contact Mapping – Business associates maintain reseller contacts by Customer (BCN), Vendor, Vendor Partner ID, and Contact Type (Renewal or Auto Quote) using a standardized, governed template.

  • Contact Precedence Logic – When multiple contacts are available, Customer Master applies defined precedence rules to identify the appropriate Primary Renewals contact.

  • XVR Contact Resolution – When an inbound bid does not contain a valid reseller email address, XVR queries Customer Master to retrieve and resolve the correct contact.

  • Write-Back to Customer Master – Valid email addresses provided in bids that are not already on file are automatically added to Customer Master, continuously enriching the contact data.

  • Graceful Fallback – If no valid contact can be resolved, the quote is created in Draft with a corresponding CRM task, preventing silent failures and misrouted communications.

Question #4: What are the key business benefits of Customer Master’s BCN, Vendor Partner ID, and Strategic Vendor Contact Resolution capabilities?

Answer:  These capabilities streamline and improve the quoting and renewal process by ensuring accurate customer, vendor, and contact data throughout the workflow.

Key benefits include:

  • Enables Touchless Auto Quote and Bid Workflows – Accurate BCN and Vendor Partner ID resolution, combined with reliable contact mapping, ensures quotes and renewal notifications reach the correct reseller contact automatically, reducing manual lookups.

  • Reduces Missed or Misrouted Renewals – Bid-supplied email addresses take precedence, with Customer Master providing a consistent, governed fallback to help prevent missed renewals caused by missing or outdated contact data.

  • Reduces Manual Effort – Business teams no longer need to manually reconcile vendor customer records or search for reseller contacts across individual vendors.

  • Improves Matching and Contact Accuracy – Hierarchical matching delivers 100% accuracy for BCN, Tax ID, and Name matches and 95%+ accuracy for address-based fuzzy matching. Defined contact precedence rules further reduce duplicate, incorrect, or misrouted relationships.

  • Scales Strategic Vendor Onboarding – A single engine and governed process make onboarding each new Strategic Vendor primarily a configuration exercise rather than requiring a bespoke solution.

Question #5: What integrations are currently supported by Customer Master, and how does it support the broader Strategic Vendor initiative?

Answer: Customer Master serves as a foundational capability for the Strategic Vendor initiative by resolving reseller identity and contact information once and making trusted data reusable across renewals, quoting, authorization, and other downstream use cases. Current and planned integrations include:

  • XVR – Uses Customer Master contact resolution for renewals and quotes, including the write-back of valid contact information into Customer Master.

  • GDE – Uses resolved Vendor–Reseller BCN mappings as the primary resolution path, with ABR as a fallback. In progress.

  • Auto Quote – Uses the same vendor-specific contact mapping to route notifications to the appropriate reseller contacts.

  • X4A UI – Displays resolved Reseller, Vendor Partner ID, and contact information for VBM and Sales visibility.

  • PDP / Search – Currently supporting Cisco, with additional vendors planned. Customer Master provides the foundation for vendor/reseller authorization data used in the Customer Authorization experience.

Starting with Lenovo, this approach establishes a scalable, reusable foundation that can be extended across the broader Strategic Vendor ecosystem without requiring separate solutions for each downstream use case.
