Overview:
Ad Capture allows you to create live previews of ad banner campaigns in X4C. It enables you to instruct X4C to display a specific banner regardless of its targeting settings, search criteria, user segments, or other campaign conditions.
This feature is particularly useful for capturing screenshots of banners on the live site, especially when banners are difficult to locate due to targeting conditions or multiple concurrent campaigns running in shared ad spaces.
To preview a campaign assigned to the Product Details page, you must take an additional manual step to display the banner. The Product Details page displays an error message when no valid product is selected. In this case, follow the steps below to display the banner.
Important: Displaying a banner through Ad Capture does not constitute physical evidence that the banner was or is visible to X4C users at any given time. Only the impression data displayed in AdButler can be used as evidence of a campaign's visibility.
Prerequisites
To use the Ad Capture live preview, you must:
Have access to Xvantage for Associates (X4A) with the Marketing Associate persona and Basic privileges or higher for any country. You do not need access to the specific country instance where you want to preview the banners.
Be logged in to the X4C live site for the country where your campaigns are published. Although some ad zones are available while logged out, the Ad Capture preview will not work unless you are logged in.
Have access to all X4C pages where your campaigns are published. This may require higher access privileges in X4C.
Process:
Go to My Apps and open Okta.
In Okta, search for Xvantage for Associates (X4A) and open it.
Within X4A, hover over the left navigation menu and click Marketing.
Click Campaign Ads.
Click Open Dialog.
If AdButler is not already open, click Open AdButler to open it in a new browser tab.
In AdButler, open the detail page of the ad item for which you want to create a preview.
Tip: Use AdButler's global search function to quickly locate a campaign or ad item. For example, you can search by Campaign ID. The search results will display relevant campaigns and ad items. Select the required ad item to open its details page directly.
From the ad item's URL, copy the adItem ID (BannerID) to your clipboard.
Return to the Ad Proofer dialog and paste the adItem ID (BannerID) into the search field.
For postcard ads, select Native from the left dropdown menu instead of Image.
Verify that the search results display the correct banner.
Click Open in X4C to display the banner on the corresponding X4C page. X4C will display this error message:
In X4C, navigate to Products > Computer Systems (or any other category of your choice, except Cloud).
Click any product displayed on the Product Search page.
This will open the Products Detail page with a valid product ID and your desired banner will show.
