Question 1: What’s new?

Answer:

A new Bid-Level Combinability capability has been introduced to provide greater control over how bid discounts interact with vendor program discounts. Previously, combinability decisions were managed primarily at the vendor program level. With this enhancement, specific bids can now have their own combinability rules, allowing the business to precisely determine which discounts can be stacked and which cannot.

The feature also introduces a new "Deny All" option that prevents a bid from combining with any vendor program discounts, ensuring complete control over discount application when required. Together, these enhancements improve pricing governance, support more complex deal scenarios, and help prevent unintended discount stacking.

Question 2: Why is it important?

Answer:

  1. Supports more complex customer and vendor agreements with flexible rules tailored to specific deal scenarios.

  2. Improves pricing governance and compliance through clearer controls over how discounts are applied.

  3. Introduces a "Deny All" option that allows the business to block all discount combinability for a bid when a standalone pricing strategy is required.

  4. Reduces manual pricing exceptions and oversight efforts by enforcing combinability rules automatically during pricing and order processing.

Question 3: What are the key benefits?

Answer:

  • Granular control at the individual bid level

  • Enhanced discount stacking and exclusion capabilities

  • Ability to completely block combinability through "Deny All“

  • Improved pricing accuracy and governance

  • Greater flexibility to support diverse customer and vendor agreements

Question 4: How to Set Up Bid Combinability

Answer:

Bid-Level Combinability extends existing discount combinability functionality by giving the business direct control over discount interactions at the deal level, enabling both more flexible and more restrictive pricing strategies as needed.

  1. Once a Bid is created in the system, you can now access the Bid Level Combinability tab.

  2. While in the Bid Combinability tab, click on Create New.

  3. The New Bid Level Combinability Rule assistant will walk you though the steps to set up your new combinability rules, starting with whether this will be a Bid-to-Bid or Bid-to-Vendor-Program Combinability type.

    4. Once you have selected your combinability type and click on Next, you will be able to

select which vendor programs or bids to include based on your choice.

  1. If you select Bid-to-Vendor-Program, you can prevent this bid from combining with any

others. Click on the box stating ‘Do not allow this bid to combine with any bid’.

  2. Click Next and Create to finish creating your Bid Combinability rules.

  3. Now that your Bid Combinability Rules are in the system, GDE will recalculate pricing and combine bids when the right situations arise.
