Migration or Import Error Adobe Subscriptions Troubleshooting: BAD_MARKET_SEGMENT in Xvantage for Associates

Prev Next

Summary:

This article explains why the BAD_MARKET_SEGMENT error appears during an Adobe subscription import and how to identify and resolve market segment mismatches.

Issue:

When importing an Adobe subscription using Seamless Move in Xvantage, the import fails with the error:

“Migration / Import Error: BAD_MARKET_SEGMENT”

The import cannot be completed while this error persists.

Cause:

The BAD_MARKET_SEGMENT error occurs when the Adobe Reseller ID configured for the partner does not match the market segment defined in Adobe for the customer’s subscription.

Key causes include:

  • The Adobe Reseller ID does not align with the customer’s Commercial or Government market segment

  • Commercial and Government partner IDs are different or misconfigured

  • The reseller configuration in CMP does not match what Adobe has on record

Resolution:

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Verify Partner and Reseller IDs:

    • In CMP, review the partner’s Adobe Partner IDs

    • Navigate to Partnerships (not Reseller Authorization)

    • Verify whether Commercial and Government IDs match

  2. Confirm whether the customer subscription is classified as Commercial or Government in Adobe.

  3. If Commercial and Government IDs do not match, engineering intervention may be required to update the configuration through the Adobe API.

  4. Once the reseller ID and market segment are aligned, retry the Seamless Move import.
